when you still have this tiny, tiny bit of hope inside of you that they will learn how to love you again, even if there's this bigger part that knows: they never will. © sushitae- 「 highest ranking: #19 in poetry 」

"this is the poetry that has come from finally realizing it is okay to be okay but also not okay at the same time." ~ 'how the words come' tells the story of overcoming the aftermath of an emotionally abusive relationship. the book is separated into two parts. the first part, titled 'the broken and the bruised' delves into the pain and heartbreak one feels while dealing with the trauma an abuser leaves in their wake. the second part, titled ' the happy and the healed' is filled with lighter, positive, and empowering poetry, embodying the strength and joy one finds in new love and in healing. there are also pieces covering topics like feminism, gun control, the act of writing itself, and self-love throughout the entire collection. for more of catarine hancock's poetry, check out her instagram: @catarinehancock

❝my freedom was at the cost of my sanity❞ how far would you go to earn your freedom, if it meant stripping away your happiness and losing your mind. freedom does not mean liberating yourself, spreading your wings, and taking flight away from this big, bad world. nor does freedom necessarily mean freeing yourself, sometimes it means to be trapped inside your own damn mind. p r o g r e s s started; 25th feb 2018 28th March 2018 highest; #56 in poetry c o m m e n t s "I just /devoured/ this book. I had to go back and vote because I became so invested the only thing that mattered was going to the next chapter. It's very beautiful and eloquent and I'm so glad to have stumbled open it. Keep up the good work!" - @an-ardent-author "Ur writing and the way the emotions are displayed here are very unique. Keep it up!" - @VforViper "God. Your work is extraordinary beautiful. I loved it where you said her eyes are like gold from rusting metal. Wow. Beautiful imagery." - @awesomeatc "Wow. I love this, you are very talented." - @25bluetiger25 "I'm really interested by this book so far, can't wait for the rest of the poems!" - @SerenPenticuffPoet "This was so touching! It draws ones emotions to the surface even if they don't know why." - @Brooke_Lyn00 "Your descriptions for everything is LIFE." - @-champion "It flows very nicely, and it has some sparks! Well done!" - @AurelienThomasAuthor "Truly stygian but amazing." - @Shreylockholmes "I love love love this." - @Niamhiefxoxo "This speaks to my soul." - @Survivors_Fan "Your writing is amazing." - @that_tall_bean "I. I wrote these poems whenever I felt left out, ignored, not loved, hated , disrespected, and some other feeling some of us humans know too well
