Lendas urbanas, mitos ou lendas contemporâneas são histórias que tanto podem assustar como encantar muita gente. As histórias variam de cultura para cultura, de país para país e se transforma em histórias diferentes, dependendo de quem conta de acordo com os anos que se passam. Muitas até mesmo foram traduzidas e incorporadas a outras culturas. É o caso, por exemplo, da história da "loira do banheiro", lenda urbana brasileira, que tem outras versões até mesmo fora do Brasil. Aqui no Brasil existem muitas lendas urbanas contadas principalmente entre jovens e adolescentes, aqui vamos citar algumas das mais famosas lendas urbanas contadas entre os coreanos, ditas como nascidas ou não em outros países, estas são as mais famosas por lá, e foram até usadas como inspiração de muitos filmes sul-coreanos, como o filme "Cheonyeo Gwishin" de 1967 ou "My Girlfriend is a Gumiho" de 2010.
