Kayla is a 13 year old orphan that has been abused and bullied her whole life she doesn't have any friends her whole life she has been adopted 7 time they have all abused her, she had trouble trusting men now because of her past. This all changed when a couple called ZALFIE ( Zoe and Alfie) adopts her. (Later in the book she goes from being 6 to 13, to make in more interesting, so she was originally 6)

Maya has gone to her school ever since 5th grade and is now in 10th grade (the school is from 5th grade to 12th grade) and has had a crush on this boy named Luke they have gone out a few times but their not together right now they still like each other but are trying to fix their relationship, but when a new girl Lucy come to school everything changes, Maya has to fight to get Luke back but what happens when Maya runs into a boy by the name Jack Johnson, will she fight to get Luke back or will she run after the boy she just met?
