Saar has been a part of the Beaumont family ever since they took her in after her parents' death when she was just five years old. Growing up, she never felt like she fully belonged, especially because of the Beaumonts' world that consisted of power, influence, and the ever present violence.
What happens when the 'lost' eldest son of the family finally decides to show up? Will he and Saar get along? Will Saar find out the truth about her parents and find her place in the world of intrigues and violence she was forcefully thrown into?
She had spent two years convincing herself that if she was never to see him again, she would be okay. It was easier than the howling hope, confused longing and pondering the endless what ifs. Easier than admitting to herself the odd frequency at which he appeared in her thoughts. It was easier to push it all away.
Her entire life, he had been a gust of smoke, a constant in her life but never truly there. A myth. Two years ago, when he came back like an unexpected storm, the illusion of him was suddenly becoming real, taking a form. But it had vanished just as quickly as it came with him gone again, leaving her even emptier and more rattled than before.
But now, standing there, his eyes wandered all over her as if checking for all the things he remembered, all the things that stayed the same and those that changed. Drinking her in just like she was desperate to take in all of him, afraid he would disappear in a blink if she didn't.
