In this world, there are angels known as Cupids who are responsible for keeping the magic of love alive by growing and nurturing it between humans. They have a strict moral code. Their most important rule is that they must never fall in love with a human. AR-202 is a Cupid who in spite of her rigorous studying and angelic knowledge, is dangerously close to breaking this rule. She gets found out and arrested. At her trial she makes a bold declaration; "I'm so confident that it's True Love that I'm willing to take the Cupid's Test!" A Cupid's Test is no small feat. The Cupid that takes the test is transformed into a human and has all memories of being a Cupid wiped from their mind. The Cupid then gets a false set of memories to give themselves a backstory and a pseudonym. They are then forced to live a normal human life from the age of the human, hereto referred to as the charge, to the time of their death or the death of their charge. Their mission is to fall in love with their charge without the assistance of other Cupids and earn the love of their charge in return. If the couple end up getting married without angelic assistance, their bond generates Pure True Love, the single most powerful source of love known to all. Pure True Love is said to be so powerful that it can immediately end all conflict and usher in a millennium of peace. However, the penalty for failing to trigger Pure True Love by the time of death of either party is that the Cupid will be transformed into an Angel of Death and escort their charge to the afterlife, regardless of the charge's remaining lifespan. The former Cupid must then remain an Angel of Death until the end of time. Other Cupids have classified the human as a Fearful/Avoidant Class 10, or in layman's terms, a lost cause.
