Anna Jenkins, a highschool girl gets asked to the prom by a boy who is known in their school as The Silent Psycho. She says no, to find a text later that night saying, "you should've said YES." A few days after, she's caught up in some terrifying events, leading her to believe that there are terrible consequences to saying no to some people.
