Janes a single mother to three kids. Ten year old Alison, 6 year old Max and 2 year old Daniel. It was her 16th birthday when she met Casey Jones, a 20 year old in the army. She dated him for awhile, which resulted in Alison. They kept dating when he was home or back from deployment which resulted in Max, then he left for active duty and another deployment. When he came back, Jane got pregnant a third time, resulting in Daniel. It wasn't until after she found out about her third baby that she found out he had been cheating on her the entire time. So she left him, even though she was four months pregnant. Maura Isles is a single woman. She's the Chief Medical Examiner for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. When Jane is brought in as the new homicide detective, she immediately falls for the gorgeous honey blonde.
