What's a Fault Town? A Fault Town is a fictional term for a symbolic location in a person's personal mythology, tied to the moments that define us, the people we lose, and the memories we cannot leave behind. When Hazel "Marge" Young suddenly disappears and is presumed dead, her childhood best friend, Miles Lancaster, refuses to accept the story everyone else believes. Determined to uncover the truth, Miles gathers a small group of friends and follows a trail of clues left behind by Marge herself. Their search takes them across Oregon, through abandoned buildings, hidden messages, forgotten photographs, and the three mysterious places Marge once called her "Fault Towns." As the mystery deepens, Miles and his friends begin to realize that the people we love often carry secrets we never knew existed. What begins as a search for a missing girl soon becomes a journey through friendship, first love, grief, growing up, and the complicated truths that shape who we are. Looking for the Fault Towns is a coming-of-age mystery about the people we lose, the memories we keep, and the places that change us forever. Author's Note This story is heavily inspired by the novels of John Green, especially Looking for Alaska, Paper Towns, and The Fault in Our Stars. Readers may notice similarities in certain themes, character dynamics, humor, emotional moments, and coming-of-age elements. Some characters and ideas were inspired by the feelings those stories gave me as a reader. However, Looking for the Fault Towns is an original story with its own plot, mysteries, characters, settings, and narrative direction. It is not intended to be a retelling or continuation of any existing work. This is my first published story, and I hope you'll join Miles and his friends on this journey of mystery, friendship, and self-discovery. Thank you for reading.
