1992- Dean had a crush on quiet, nerdy Cas Novak, but due to the time and where they lived he couldn't come out and tell the other boy he liked him. He had no idea that anxious, introverted Cas liked him in return. Feelings were never revealed and both boys grew up, moved on, started their own lives, both certain they'll never again see one another. But what if fate has something else in store for them?

Charlie drags Dean out for the night, taking him to a gay club her boss owns because they both need to let loose and have a little fun. Except this isn't exactly Dean's kind of fun. While Charlie hooks up with someone, Dean is left sitting there, drinking and people watching, until an attractive man with dark hair and blue green eyes approaches him and offers to buy him a drink. Dean doesn't usually do one night stands, those are a thing of his past, but this man is incredibly attractive, and when he invites Dean to come home with him, it's too much temptation to say no. Things don't go exactly as planned though...

Cas is a teacher with an apartment downtown. There are perks to living smack in the heart of the city. One is the music, another is the myriad of fests. Sometimes though, on a hot summer night, live music isn't the only thing a lonely school teacher experiences.

Cas is a new homeowner, thrilled with the huge backyard he has so many plans for. As winter turns to spring and then to summer, he works diligently at creating thriving gardens filled with flowers, herbs, and vegetables. Slowly he's getting to know his neighbors, though he has not yet met the man whose backyard backs right up to his. He had definitely noticed the man though. It's hard not to, he's gorgeous. While out watering his flowers one hot, summer morning Cas learns a few things about his new neighbor. One, he has done a little gardening of his own as there are flower beds under the kitchen window Two, his neighbor likes to walk around in nothing more than women's panties It can't possibly get more awkward. Right? Wrong.

Dean lives on the same block as a fraternity and as a fellow college student, it doesn't bother him that much, but on a party night, after hearing hours of loud music, screaming girls, and beer chugging challenges, all he wants to do is go to sleep. There's someone asleep in his bed when he gets to the bedroom. Did I mention? Dean lives alone.

Cas has a successful blog and he loves all of his readers. They're the reason he has done so well all these years, but after a sudden and painful breakup with his fiance, a video starts popping up all over every social media platform of his ex proposing to the man he left Cas for. It's painful the first ten times it came across one of his news feeds, but it's downright torture by the hundredth time, so when he reaches out to his fans via Twitter and pleads with them to please STOP posting the video, he gets a response from someone he never would have thought to hear from. The ex fiance of the guy his own ex was proposing to. What could have started out as something strange and awkward turns out to be the start of a unique friendship. He and Dean find that their exes are not the only thing they have in common. When feelings come into play and they realize they care about one another as more than just friends, they have some decisions to make. They both feel broken, but together they find they really weren't at all.
