(It is highly recommended to read "Alterra: Foreign Eden" before this, as certain characters and events may carry over or be mentioned in passing.) Not every Alterra assignment comes with a battlefield. Some of them come with a class schedule. Kusunoki Sakuta's reassignment to Thasselia brings him to Prometheus Institute, Alterra's prestigious research and academic subsidiary in the heart of Caelum's most scholarly nation. By title, he remains an Android Inspector. In practice, he has been given an office, a student caseload, and the designation of counselor, which means his responsibilities now extend well beyond hardware evaluations and behavioral reports. The students at Prometheus Institute are brilliant, eccentric, and occasionally in genuine need of a functional adult. Whether Sakuta qualifies is a question he has chosen not to examine too closely. Thasselia is a different world from anywhere he has worked before. Its sprawling campus, Olympia, sits like a city unto itself: observatories, research halls, lecture theaters, and the general atmosphere of a place where serious inquiry is the default mode of being. Prometheus Institute draws students from across Caelum, and the lives those students bring with them are complicated in ways no inspection protocol was designed to address. Interpersonal conflicts, academic pressures, questions that arrive in Sakuta's office wearing the face of ordinary paperwork-his new role has a talent for producing exactly the kind of problem he is least equipped to solve. (It is highly recommended to read "Alterra: Foreign Eden" before this, as certain characters and events may carry over or be mentioned in passing.) In the aftermath of a violent civil war, the ancient nation of Tsugashi stands on the brink of transformation. Alterra Robotics, the megacorp behind Earth's first interdimensional portal, has extended its reach deeper into Caelum - deploying sleek androids and gleaming infrastructure into lands built on swords, shrines, and centuries-old customs. Now assigned to Tsugashi, Sakuta - an Android Inspector with an unfortunate talent for attracting trouble (and android women) - must navigate the awkward, hilarious, and occasionally horrifying clash between old and new. Caught between futuristic androids, traditionalist samurai, Sakuta finds himself once again surrounded by beautiful, dangerously independent synthetic women. (Content Warning: May contain swearing, suggestive imagery, graphic description of violence, and AI-generated images.)

(It is highly recommended to read "Alterra: Foreign Eden" before this, as certain characters and events may carry over or be mentioned in passing.) Kusunoki Sakuta has one of the strangest job descriptions: travel to an alternate world, evaluate the highly advanced androids running Alterra Robotics' regional operations, and ensure nothing catastrophic happens on his watch. He's been reasonably successful at the first two. The third remains a work in progress. His latest assignment takes him to Florienne, the most refined, most culturally prestigious, and most quietly treacherous nation in western Caelum. A country built on centuries of aristocratic tradition, it runs on image, reputation, and the kind of social architecture where the most dangerous moves are the ones that never look like moves at all. At its heart sits Fleurdelis, the elegant enclave city administered by Réseau Iris, Alterra's fifth subsidiary. Officially, a media and broadcast conglomerate. What lies beneath that official face is exactly why Sakuta is here. But Fleurdelis reveals itself slowly, and what it reveals is not reassuring. Behind the gaslit boulevards and high-society events, something darker has taken root: occult undercurrents the city's authorities have never fully managed to suppress, dangerous influence flowing through channels that appear on no official record, and a growing suspicion that Réseau Iris is not simply a corporation embedded in Florienne, but something threaded through the city at a depth that goes well beyond legitimate business.

In 2038, Alterra Robotics discovers a portal to a world untouched by modern industry, rich with magic, ancient creatures, and civilizations that have never heard of a megacorporation. To conquer this untouched land and resources, they deployed hundreds of thousands of androids as they slowly entrenched themselves in the world's history, undoubtedly changing the trajectory of their future. Alongside them are android inspectors-human employee who are tasked to evaluate their robotic workforces. Kusunoki Sakuta, one of Alterra's top android inspectors, is reassigned to Vernheit: a European-inspired nation on the continent of Caelum, home to Eisen Blut, Alterra's oldest and most powerful subsidiary. His job is straightforward. Evaluate the androids. Assess their performance, their mental stability, their physical condition. File the report. Go home. Most inspectors do exactly that. But Sakuta treated them as more than walking humanoid constructs. It's a habit that's earned him a reputation-and, apparently, a reassignment to one of the most politically significant postings on the continent. Alongside his corporate duty, he will also learn that... ... Perhaps being transported to an alternate fantasy world isn't as easy as it sounds.
