The end of the human race is upon planet Earth. Thunderstorms have been swallowed by hurricanes, the wind gained the strength to lift buildings, and waves grew large enough to wipe out entire cities all around the world. Flare Alway was not anticipating a trip to deep space. But, at the age of sixteen, she finds herself looking out the window of a spacecraft and watching as the earth shrink as the ship moves towards the edge of the universe. After a very intense and stressful journey to a possible candidate planet, Flare and Briar--her fellow teenage astronaut--land and meet the native creatures not five minutes later. The two explorers are almost eaten twice, and then kidnapped. But, after escaping death so many times and then failing to return to Earth, Flare and Briar realize that this new planet has much bigger plans for them.
