The door flung open into the dark room, lightening struck the dark sky shining a little light on the shirtless man that stood by the doorway. "Who's there" my shaky voice masked with fear asked. Paying a deaf ear to my question he walked deeper into the room towards my bed as my shaky hands drew the covers higher over my whimpering self, right up to my nose. "Khalil?" my voice sounded weird coming through the thick duvet, it felt awkward calling his name I mean am I even allowed to call him that? I was more scared now that I knew who it was. What was he doing in room? A loud thunder sound came as he sat beside me, a little too close. Does this man know he's shirtless and in my room at eleven p.m? "Have you chosen a surrogate?" his thick voice cut through the sound of raindrops and my train of thoughts. I slowly shook my head at him. "Relax"He raised his hand to my face which was still covered halfway and slowly dragged down the covers down to my abdomen revealing my bare arms in my spaghetti strap v neck nightwear. I scanned the room for my robe and found it hanging on the coat rack in the far end of my room, I would get up to get it but my nightgown didn't really qualify as a gown. I watched his eyes travel up my body landing on my chest, his Adams apple bobbed up. He shut his eyes and when he opened them, they landed on mine sending shivers down my spine... Poor Ruwaida Mahmoud had to get married to her friend's brother, Turaad, a rich sophisticated Doctor not knowing she had signed a contract to save her life! _______________________________ Her eyes tinged with tears the moment she raised her head to look at him. All the while he spent talking to her, she had her head down, staring endlessly at her hands. His words filled with a sincerity which he had shown broke her to pieces. The most she could do was smile at him. Even if she wanted to, her words wouldn't be able to make sense. She had so much to say, so much to let out, but then, her vocals refused to let her. He held both her hands and smiled back, his other hand on the small hospital bed she had laid. "You scared me Waida, I almost passed out seeing you being trolled back into the ICU you know," He said, and laughed, ducking his head low, as the way he had acted replayed in his memory. She also chortled silently, not minding the tears that refused to stop, moments like this, always left her emotional. "I did? But I'm fine now ain't I," she asked and he placed a hand on his forehead, his overdramatic wife mode had just been turned on. "Yes you're, but please don't ever do that again," he said with a stern face. "Promise me," With an absentminded look in her eyes, she nodded and gave a quick reply. "Yes Muhammad, I promise," Love_ Silentwriter ☕️
