On a ravaged Earth, Kayla survives by using her uncanny ability to locate tradable artifacts in the rubble. But when someone starts hunting her, she'll be forced to team up with her biggest rival... A riveting dystopian adventure with a supernatural twist! * * * Some secrets are better left buried... Kayla is a scavenger, driven to search the ruins of abandoned cities for artifacts in exchange for critical life-saving supplies. But, the rarest artifacts are found in the most dangerous ruins-those under control by the OmniLab traders. Carl is one of those traders-and Kayla's invaded his district. He's determined to stop her and the best way to do that is to recruit her. The only problem? Kayla hates traders. When a powerful man intent on revenge starts hunting her, Kayla realizes the only way to save herself may be to accept Carl's offer. But that would mean surrendering to OmniLab and giving up everything she knows. Only everything isn't quite what it seems. Including OmniLab. And Kayla's in a lot of trouble.

My mother always told me when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. When someone knocks you down, you get right back up. You fight the good fight until you have nothing left. You fight with honor, you protect the ones you love, and if you just happen to die in the process, than you do so with dignity and grace. What my mother neglected to tell me during my studies was that you don't always get what you want, the outcome you think is coming doesn't always happen, and when the smoke clears, you're always going to be the last one standing. By the end of The Certainty, Georgiana Vertigo is left with nothing more than her life, something many people would be more than happy to have. However, Georgiana is left to her own devices in a strange city, alone and heartbroken with regular intense bouts of depression. In starting a new life with the Guild, Georgiana has everything she needs in order to move on with her life and keep her mind off the past. Only problem is, the past is never truly forgotten and no matter how hard you try to shake them, the feelings that go along with the memories don't just fade away. ~ * ~ Alright, chickens. You asked for it (some of you at least) and here it is...well...part of it. Like I've told a few of you, this is a work in progress. I add pieces to it when I think of them. The posting on this story will NOT be regular but thankfully for you, I have quite a bit of it done. I just haven't decided if the path I take it down is the right one. So. I hope you enjoy it and I will give you a forewarning that as the story progresses, it gets a bit more adult. For those of us just joining the party because they stumbled across it in the Paranormal category, there is a whole series of books you have to read until you get to this one. Go start with The Beginning. You can find it under "My Works" on my home page.

Fresh off her freshman year of college, Emelina De Sota returns home for the summer. Normally coming home wouldn't be a problem but skeletons quickly start coming out of the closet faster than Em can shove them back in. It doesn't help matters when her overprotective big brother is the boss of the local Spanish Thorns. He puts her so far out of reach that she's comfortable with it at first. But when temptation is placed just down the hall from her, Em finds slipping back into old habits is easier than she originally thought. As her world rapidly starts to turn upside down, will Em choose to risk everything for a chance at the possibility of real love or will she stick with her guns and stay with her family, with what's safe? Book One in the Spanish Thorns Series ~ * ~ This story has a little bit of everything including the following in no particular order: romance, action, drug use, Adele, alcohol consumption, sex scenes, food, death threats, gang violence, street racing, bathroom breaks, medical problems, blood, singular point of view, kissing, cussing, guns, orange juice, and tattoos. This story is rated R. I struggled with this for a while, considering rating it PG-13 and placing the rather "graphic" scenes in a separate book but I believe it would take away from the story. My characters are considered adults in the eyes of the law and society and therefore do 'adult' things. For the most part, the story will be PG-13 but because I wouldn't split it, it's earned an R rating. Hope you understand.

Natalie Abernathy was born into a world where the lines on your skin tell everyone who you are. They appear like tattoos and change with every choice you make, every person you meet. Only one line remains constant. Your love line. The only colored line on the human's skin, a blood red mixed in with the black. Natalie's world is consumed with The Sickness, the next stage in human evolution that can strike you when you are fourteen. Or doesn't. If you survive The Sickness, you become one of the Elite, faster, stronger, smarter than the humans who don't get The Sickness. The Elite's lines are colorful, beautiful in their own way. A mixture of deepest purples, the darkest blues, and dominate greens. They cover the black lines the Elite were given at birth, rewriting their destinies forever. As Natalie comes to find, the Elite aren't what they seem. The Sickness is not what it seems. Her heart is broken by the loss of her best friend Cecil McCourt, who succumbed to The Sickness days before their shared fifteenth birthday. Her friends surround her, trying to fill the void left by Cecil. Time moved on, carrying Natalie along with it. Now it's three years later, everyone's senior year. Days before school starts, Natalie befriends the new boy in town, Union Davidson. Cecil (now known as Cyrus) is quick to warn her away from him. At first she thinks it's a trick but as things start to happen, Natalie finds herself trapped between the thing she wants most in the world and something else quite darker than she imagined. © SCCourtney ~ * ~ Finalist in the Watty's 2012
