Sebastian Larson has lived in the rural town of Ridgeton all his life, a place where aberrants - dangerous people born with supernatural abilities - are rarely seen. It's uninteresting, dull, and most of all, incredibly normal, until the arrival of an orphanage across the road. Run by the mysterious Marion Millimer and cruel Gregory Grey, and without a child ever in sight, Sebastian becomes suspicious. Enlisting the help of his best friend, Callum Galen, he begins to investigate, and soon discovers that the orphanage holds a dark and twisted secret in the form of imprisoned kids - aberrants - and a black market waiting to tear them apart. What's more, Sebastian now knows far too much, and Marion will stop at nothing to hunt him down.
