The Kaiser Curse derived from the poisonous plant known as Kassire; the same family as Wolf's Bane, has the ability to mutate, weaken, and destroy mutants within its vicinity. After a desperate mission to kill Veronika Blackwood; the mastermind of the Kaiser curse, the X-Men are captured and held hostage; slowly deteriorating from the Kaiser curse. Luckily, three X-Men managed to escape; Bobby Drake (Iceman), Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat), and John Allerdyce (Pyro) and fled in search of a cure for the curse. After consultation with fellow mutant Raven Darkholme (Mystique) in New York, they realise they must travel to the town of Beacon Hills in California, in search of the rare cure. The only problem? Beacon Hills was the origin of wolf's bane.
