Over time Vanessa and Steve grow closer, and he comforts her through the flashbacks and anxiety. But just as people are starting to care for her again, she pushes them away. The fear of hurting more people haunts her. So does her past. Vanessa doesn't think anybody could care about her, let alone love her. For who could love such Damaged Goods?
