No one really paid much attention to Shadowscale, after all, what is a prince good for anyways? He couldn't become ruler of the RainWings and NightWings, that curse would go to his younger sister, Princess Firefly. He knew his mother cared for him, but Queen Glory was always busy. When she wasn't seeing her subjects, she was preparing Firefly to become Queen one day. He always tried to make himself look as small and insignificant as possible, he wanted to be ordinary. After all, he hasn't been since his birth. Born under the light of two and a half moons, he had received the ancient NightWing powers of legends, learning to harness them in secret under the watchful eyes of Moonwatcher, who shares similar abilities. However, his are different. He can read minds normally. As for prophecy, he could only see three possible futures. One was good, the other 2 were awful... In order to prevent the bad ones, he must become something he never thought he'd ever become. *** "Dad?" Shadowscale's voice called out, gently and silently like the wind. The NightWing's ears perked up as he turned his head towards his son. "Oh, Shadow, what are you doing at this hour? Aren't you supposed to be sleeping?" "Don't NightWings sleep during the day now?" Shadowscale retorted causing Deathbringer to bark out a laugh. "Touche my son! But still, what do you need?" His small talons where shaking as the flashes of fire and death flashed before his eyes, as if reminding him why he needed to do this. Why he needed to ask this. Because if he didn't... it could possibly be the end of Pyrriah. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. When he opened them again, his amber eyes where full of determination. The Pyrrhian Resistance Guard, which was put in place to stop the Dark King, has failed to overthrow him. Most Pyrrhian dragons have fled to Pantala. Those who didn't have died and become part of the Dark King's army, or are in hiding. **Sequel to The Story of Artemis** The first tale was only the beginning. Artemis and her Winglet, after the map to the Islands and prophecy are received, enter the dangerous world of the Twin Islands. Solar's plans are coming to a close, and the frantic dragonets must find a way to stop her before she takes over the tribes. Secrets are finally going to be revealed as new allies are made. Can they stop her in time? Or are they doomed to bow to the gold tyrant forever? (Written before the events of Escaping Peril. The war affected everyone in its own way. Families were constantly living in fear, soldiers had to face the reality that they might not live to see the next day. But that all changed when the dragonets brought the Sandwing heirs together, and Thorn was crowned Queen. From this they created an Academy, for dragons of all tribes to come together. Artemis is one of these dragons. As her parent's compassion for each other and their family deteriorates, the two Nightwings decide they've had enough of them and enroll Artemis and her eldest sister into Jade Mountain. Of the three newly added Winglets, she's enrolled in Opal, and is relieved to know she isn't the only peculiar one in it. But before they know it, Artemis and her friends are faced with a prophecy, and a dark secret. New continents, new tribes, new enemies. They face the biggest threat to Pyhrria since the end of the war. Gold, silver, sun and moon, the scales have tipped. This is the story of Artemis.
