Welcome to Trench. In the lowest reaches of a barren world of grey and neon, there is a city called Dema, surrounded by walls and controlled by nine Bishops. There, children and adults of all ages are taught to perform with efficiency and obedience. There is no way out - but why would they want to leave? They have shelter, food, clothes, and most importantly, consistency. Two young men dream of something outside of Dema. They are forced to keep quiet about their dreams and dim the light in their eyes, for if they are caught with thoughts like these, they will surely be published. It would be easier to stay and conform, like everyone else. Tyler would be lying if he said he wasn't intimidated by this new kid; his first day of school hasn't even really started yet and he already managed to get in a fight with fucking Pete Wentz of all people, and he didn't even seem bothered in the slightest when Pete was screaming in his face. It should probably be in Tyler's best interest to stay clear of this guy, because he's too weak and wimpy, physically and emotionally, to defend himself if he just so happened to get on his bad side. Tyler was sad. He was hurt, confused, angry, and scared, too, but most of all, he was sad. He didn't know if it was because he had been stuck in the same town for his entire life or it it was something a bit more serious, but that little uncertainty didn't stop him from applying to colleges all throughout the country and going to the one the furthest away from where he grew up. It wasn't the best choice he had made in his life, but suddenly there's this kid that shows up who dyes his hair a different color almost every month, and maybe, just maybe, he's the cure to Tyler's, well, whatever it is.
