Annabeth Chase betrayed Percy to another guy, which hurt Percy, because the guy was his new best friend, a styr, named Alex Morgan. He was hurt, so he ran away. He got lost and almost died, but he didn't care. He was later found and got the opportunity to become a god. He accepted and became one.
