On October 1, 1989, 43 women around the world give birth simultaneously, despite none of them showing any sign of pregnancy until labor began. Eight of the 43 children are adopted by eccentric billionaire Sir Reginald Hargreeves, and turned into a superhero team through what he calls "The Umbrella Academy". Salem 'Babydoll' Hargreeves was one of those eight children but now she and what's left of her "siblings" (Or what she likes to call her 'god awful childhood roommates') are all grown up and her "father" has died.
