الصوت قادم من الحديقة الخلفية للمنزل. ابتلعت ليال ريقها بصعوبة ونظرت إلى الطريق المشؤم المؤدي الى الحديقة. بدأ جسدها بالتحرك ببطء، عقلها يصرخ أن لا تذهب عليها الخروج من هنا بالحال لكنها ببساطة لا تستطيع التوقف وكأن الآلام في رأسها قد فصلت سلطة عقلها عن جسدها. كانت على بعد قدمين من النافذة المطلة على الحديقة الخلفية التي تسرب منها ضوء المصابيح المنارة في الحديقة إلى داخل المنزل. وقفت أخيرا ليال جامدة بمكانها المنظر الذي تراه أمامها يجعل قلبها ينبض بسرعه كبيرة تكاد تقسم انه في أي لحظة الآن سيخرج من صدرها أدم يوجه مسدسة المميز بخطوطة الذهبية إلى رجل يجلس على ركبتية بتوسل أمامة ثيابة بالية مقطع ويبدوا وكأنة يوجد عليها بقع حمراء! يقف خلفة رجل طويل و ضخم لم تستطع التعرف علية حيث أن وجهه كان في الناحية الأخرى يمسك مسدس في يده يتحدث إلى سيدة شقراء تقف بجوارة. وضعت يدها على رأسها الصداع يكاد أن يقسم رأسها إلى نصفين والحرارة تشعل جسدها. "ماذا يحصل لي" دوى صوت إطلاق النار و غابت ليال عن الوعي.! الرواية تحتوي على مشاهد جريئة للكبار الناس الي ميعجبهم هذا الشي رجائا لتقروها.
