Waking to the sound of a window smashing into a thousand pieces wasn't something I would wish on anyone. The sound still splintered and echoed through my over sensitive ears. Seeing your dads terrified face as he bolted into your room wasn't something i would ever forget. For years we had been running and for years he'd never told me why. Even as he tore up the floorboards with his elongated nails, and even as he pulled out a hidden duffel bag full of money and spare clothes that id never known about, and even as he shoved it into my arms, he still didn't tell me and the only words that were offered to me was to.....run.
I knew as I looked back into my dads eyes the colour of green forests , that I'd never see him again.
I knew he was giving his life for mine that night.
two years on I would never forget his screams, or the flashes of fangs against the moonlight. And I'd never forget the pale eyes that had stared out of the blood spattered window. I did exactly as my dad had told me to.
I ran.
