I found as I got older, and memories began to fade together, it was harder to tell. I'm no different than you, reading this. I'm no different than any other kid I know. The only difference is they dont have to make regular hospital vistits weekly. Or maybe they do, and I would know that if I took the time to ask. So my story starts there. Not with all the hospital visits, not with all the sob stories I could waste my time telling. But with the first real friend I ever made. With the first real person who showed me a life besides the one I knew cowering behind school walls, and hiding under hospital blankets. Ash Browns showed me what it was like to live the life you were given, and to love every second of it. (No trigger warnings)

I warned him to never get attached to me. I begged him not to depend on me. But I guess that would've just made things to easy for us. I knew I was never going to stay in this town, and he knew it to. It wasn't my fault he refused to accept it. He was blind to me, literally and figuratively. Even though I knew he could never see me, I was overwhelmed with the notion that he saw me better than anyone in this town. And it was true, he knew sides of me that even I hadnt discovered yet. It couldnt have been possible to find anyone who could love me like he did. But one stupid mistake could change everything. One second he was this beautiful, harmelss person who I appreciated more than anything. The next time I blinked he was his exact opposite. I know I'm gonna leave this town. I'm gonna leave and be forced to carry our mistakes with me. Yet I knew I could't take him. He held me back. I couldnt let myself down like that. But love, especially the blind kind, makes you do stupid things. I didn't ask for a lesson from a blind boy, who still managed to see the world better than me.

And it's better to go under the radar, to be nothing, than to be hated. Right? Tyler, on the other hand, has taken a different approach to a similar problem. No, he can't 'read minds', but he does have a part of himself he doesn't want a soul to know about. He's quarterback, every girl's dream guy, an academic mastermind, and he's also gay. He's seen how different kids get treated, hell, he's been the one to treat them that way before. Why on Earth would he ever wish that on himself? No, it's easier to hide, to be someone you're not, than to be hated. Right?
