Have you ever wondered what it would be like to betray your only real friends? Merope Cowell has been friendless her entire life as far as she can remember. She was stuck at an orphanage for most of it, being forced to smile for people who only do so out of pity for her, for the helpless little orphan who looks like she was attacked by a dog. So you could imagine when some odd people who claim to be able to use magic take her "home" and force her to go to a magic school tell her to betray the only people she knows she can trust, to become a cold hearted backstabber, that she would want to refuse. She wants to, but her "father" whom abandoned her when she was young demands for her to spy. She becomes helplessly entangled in a net of love for the nicest person she's ever met.
