"I wake up, night after night, crying and shaking. You'd think after having the same dream every night for the past eight years I'd have gotten used to it. I haven't"

A gentle breeze brushes against my face and my eyelashes tingle. The yellow and orange coloured trees sway in sync and the leaves fall onto the hard ground.i push my ice white duvet as my warm feet press into the cold, wooden floor. The familiar smell of cooking eggs and bacon fills my nose. I open the front door and pull my soft cashmere jumper closer to my chest. I hear the lock click and start to walk. " I can't be late again" I whisper. As the wind becomes stronger I start to run. Houses rush past me and the coloured of green, yellow, orange and brown blur into one. My hair dances behind me and I start to smile. Bang. My head is centimetres from the ground and my head is being supported carefully by a firm hand.

I run out of the club, tears blurring my vision as I cry my heart out. How could he do this to me? I always imagined that this kind of crap only happened in fanfics and dumb stories. What kind of jerk cheats on you with your best friend? I stagger along blindly, kicking off my high heels and throwing them in to an alleyway. Another dumb gift from him. "Oi!" a voice shouts, as a tall, dark figure emerges from the shadows. "Hey look boys, we found ourselves a poshy!" he sneers menacingly. I knew it was a bad idea to wear this dress. I start to back away, mumbling nervously "I, um..." I stammer, tripping over my feet as I try to escape. As I turn around quickly, I come face to face with two tall burly men, one of whom is grabbing my shoulder. "Ah look, she's a shy one. We'll soon knock that out of ya!" He cackles wildly. I open my mouth to scream but am cut short by a sharp elbow in the ribs. I'm done for, I think. "Hey, leave her alone!" Another, kinder voice says firmly. A savior?

"Because it's either hard to live with, or easy to die for" Julia Edwards has always had trouble with boys, or rather, the ones she came in contact with, which were few. Life was going at a slow pace after she left school, leaving her wondering where to go next. Will this strange boy in the café change her mind? Or will he open up a whole new series of problems? (At first, we started this off as a fan fiction, but as the story developed, I suppose if I want to be fancy, I'd call it a coming of age drama, that keeps the same characteristics as your everyday fanfiction! Enjoy!)

"There's no way to escape them, Alice. They're weaving their way in to our community, seeing in to our souls, waiting for the perfect moment - the kairos - to attack" Alice's hometown, The Compound has been overrun by strange beings called Kairosans. They take on the form of humans to find society's deepest, darkest secrets and fears and use them against them.
