Certaines personnes naissent avec des destins extraordinaires, ils sont, dès la première minute de leur vie, voués à quelque chose de grand. Mave ne fait pas partie de ces gens, à dire vrai, la banalité est un mot qui lui convient très bien. Du moins jusqu'à ce qu'elle meure. Mais tout le monde le sait désormais, la mort n'a rien de définitif, les vampires en sont l'exemples le plus concret. Il y a parmi nous des morts qui marchent et boivent tout leur soul à la carotide du premier venu, des sorciers qui se jouent des cadavres et des créatures qu'on ne saurait cataloguer ni vivantes, ni mortes et qui pourtant se repaissent de la vie d'autrui. Alors on a bien essayé d'enfermer la mort et toute son engeance maudite dans une prison en espérant que les humains pourraient vivre en paix de l'autre côté des murs. Une idée charmante. Mais pas pour Mave. La mort ne veut pas d'elle et c'est bien la seule, car ici, dans cette prison, elle est unique et vulnérable et ils feront tout pour l'avoir.

Je pensais qu'être libre me rendrait cette partie de moi que j'avais vu mourir à petit feu. Mais on ne revient pas d'entre les morts n'est ce pas ? En tout cas pas moi...
