I don't know how to compare the role of these two diverse countries in my life. I can just say that if I am a budding plant, Bangladesh is the soil which holds me firm. It is from where I truly belong and will have to return back to it at the end, just like a little plant emerges from the ground and mixes evenly with it, adding to it much fertility after it dies. No matter how far I stay, Bangladesh and its beautiful culture resides in my heart and I shall always regard it as my own abode. India is those pretty little flowers which adorn the plant of my life. It adds colour and makes my journey much more fascinating and pleasing. Despite some problems I have always found this country to be welcoming and hospitable to me. To be true, for years I failed to realize that I do not belong here. They never let me feel different and during my initial years I did not have any issues while adjusting in this new place. There were problems and so were solutions but most importantly, my journey has many lessons to learn, stories to share, smiles to wear and memories to cherish. I am Maisha Islam and this is my story.
