"Just remember, if we get caught you're deaf and I don't speak English." "You're over thinking this, trust me. We won't get caught," he says with a smirk as he scans over my face, staring at my lips for a moment until stopping when his eyes meet mine. I smile back at him. ~~~~~~~~~~ Wish I could say that a lot of people cared for me. That was what I always said till I became a sophmore in high school. ~~~~~ "You wanna know how I can tell when your lying?" "I'm not lying!" He says exasperatingly. "You have the habit of staring at my lips whenever you lie. As if looking for me to call you out on your lie," I say smirking at him. "You ever think that maybe that's just because I just want to kiss you?" ~~~~~~ You ever read a book that makes you wish you were the main character, despite the struggles just so you can feel that fear that the author tries to describe? Well, that's what my life has turned into. The flames start to rise... And I dance through them as best as I can... though in the end, I fall... And the flames consume us all... But I'm the only one that burns...

A pair of sky blue eyes looked back at me. Matthew. He tapped again. I got up and pulled open my window. "What are you doing here?" I asked timidly. Even though Matthew and I were neighbors, we certainly weren't friends. "I need somewhere to stay and your house is the closest." I noticed he was sporting a fresh bruise on his cheek bone. "Don't you have a friend's house you could go to?" I asked curiously. "That's the first place he'd look." he said simply but seriously. I bit my lip unsure. "Come on, Shaina. It's one night." I finally nodded and stepped away from the window. * This story contains scenes of bullying, self-harm, drugs and abuse with some mature language. *Go check out the sequel But Why Not

Life for her was perfect. She had best friends who were there for her, she had a loving family (sort of), and was well-liked. She had everything rolling for her at 15. Well, that's what she thought. Notice those past tenses used? Yeah, they mean something. Until a certain incident happened in 9th grade, she changed. She gained enemies, and her health decreased. Her self-worth lowered with each passing day. She was broken, angry, and with so many emotions bottled up, mean. Her parents moved her back across town, and she changed again. She went back to being nice; her normal self. But two things stuck with her: her health, and her nightmares that she wouldn't ever be able to escape. Then... Her mother got a promotion, and thus, had to move across the country. See, she was on-call 24/7 and hardly in state, as was her husband. What was she supposed to do with her teenager who can't exactly live alone? Well, you send her away of course. *** 16 year old Brooklyn May is sent to go live with her parent's old friends when they get an offer they can't pass up in New York. That wouldn't be such a big deal for her, but, it's the biggest deal when she's not only moving out of the state, she's moving to another country. So, she's got to say goodbye to her friends, life, and the nice beaches that lay in Los Angeles and move to Canada. To make matters worse, she's not just moving in with strangers, she's moving in with a family made up of boys. The hottest and baddest boys at school, the Canadian Rebel Boys (or Brothers). At least that's what her new school calls them. Not only does she have to survive her Junior year and the years to come, she has to learn to tolerate being with boys; not just herself and her friends back home. Making new friends and enemies along the way, Brooklyn struggles her way through high school with a bunch of perverts, snobby girls, drama, and maybe, just maybe, finds a way to live with the boys and possibly find love while doing so.
