Excerpt from "Soul of a Wolf":
"Angel, these scars won't go away. They're with you for life, no matter how much you'd like to hide them. They'll be there in your darkest moments to remind you that you're a fighter. That you can and you will survive," he said, staring into my soul. "You are a warrior. A Queen. A Luna. You are the strongest person I know. If you're going to let these scars define you, let them define you as that."
I let his words sink in as I looked back at him, tears threatening to spill. I knew he was right, but I couldn't help the way I felt.
"I may be all of those things, but these scars are also a reminder that I am broken. I feel like this porcelain doll that's been dropped. There are cracks running along the surface and if someone were to reach out to touch me, I'm scared that I'll break completely. I'm scared to let people see them because then they'll know," I said, hardly audible. "They'll know that I'm broken. Who wants a broken Queen? A broken Luna? What kind of warrior can I be if I'm practically made of glass?" I cried to him, a bit louder.
He gathered me into his arms, a crying mess whose tears soaked through his white button down. "Baby, you're gonna be okay. Maybe you have this thin layer of glass on the surface. But eventually you'll break free from it, and may the goddess be with whomever tries to stand in your way," he chuckles into my hair. "I promise you, I'll be with you every step of the way, helping you chisel away that layer, and I don't care how many times I get cut."
