Everyone worries about him getting too out of control, but he doesn't notice. He doesn't focus on the rest. Nearly ever. However, one day, the shadows feel empty. Like no one is there. Tord is an all around bad boy who bullies Tom without realizing he actually is affecting him, thinking his depression is a joke, until they realize they have both been starved for affection.
