Viola Farrow, daughter of the first female conductor of the New York Metropolitan Orchestra does not play viola, contrary to what her name suggests. She plays first chair cello as a sophomore in Windsor Academy's prestigious orchestra, and her talent makes her a shoo-in for Julliard, where she's bound to exceed all expectations, then go on to play in her mother's famed orchestra. Her future has been neatly laid out in front of her by her mother, and she's perfectly content with that.
Then, one day, she picks up a different instrument than the one she's been playing all her life and meets someone who makes her question everything.
