"Don't leave like this." The words weren't from family, nor from friends, but from within. Could she really, in light of tragedy, leave her family having lost her too? She could. And she did. If was her responsibility, her father's legacy to uphold, and the most important cause that could be found in the country. So yes, she did leave like that. And by god, she regretted it. The choice to leave that night turned her world upside down, the guaranteed turned into the unknown, the safe into the risky. After that one choice, her life could never be the same again. Her life never was the same again. So for better or for worse, she found herself in the middle of a war (as well as in front of it), with entirely new people, and with a tremendous amount of insecurity. She wasn't even secure in who she was; though, she certainly knew better than everyone around her. So after that night, after that decision, she firmly believed that the universe was pitted against her, that the gods had some sort of vendetta. It wasn't for a long time until she realized that she had found what happens when stars align. --- A LAFAYETTE X READER FIC ✧ 17 CHAPTERS; 62K WORDS
