[II AU, Humanized] Balloon Sinker has always lived a fairly average life, going to school, being constantly picked on by his older brother Nickel, doing all the usual things a 13-year-old kid would do, despite the fact that he doesn't have any friends. So when his family moves out of state to Coalfell Heights, Ohio, where his parents grew up, he hardly expected anything special to happen. But on his first day in town, Balloon meets Suitcase, a rich yet fairly timid young girl his age who usually keeps to herself. Surprisingly, the two of them quickly spark up a close friendship, bonding over their love for anything having to do with the supernatural. Meanwhile, Balloon's brother Nickel has become best friends with Baseball, an older boy who lives down the street from the Sinker's new house, and has known Suitcase since they were young. But when the four of them witness something that they thought only existed in movies and fiction, they start to wonder if the town is really as "quiet" as everyone claims it to be.
