Let's try this again. NASA launches a manned mission to the Kuiper belt to repair a space probe that had become silent. What the crew finds is my hypothesis of how we could determine if there are intelligent aliens out there in the universe and what would NASA morph into because of it.

What they found, arriving at the planet was the entire research team, except for one terrified doctor, had been wiped out by a deadly organism and rescuing her cost the supply ship its crew. The Commander, his Executive Officer and the survivor were the only people who managed to escape back to Earth. But getting home did not mean they had escaped the threat as they soon discovered.

At first I thought I'd pick something a bit out of my comfort zone (so.... NOT SciFi for once...) to expand my horizon, but when I saw a prompt about time travel I was immediately inspired.
