This story is told from Tris and Tobias and a few of their friends along the way. Tobias has lived in Chicago his whole life and Tris is the new girl from Arizona. The story starts in August when they first meet each other. The two are both in the same grade and become friends. Will they become something more than that? High school, drama, and much more to come for them.

Effie Trinket stands up proudly on the stage, smile beaming from ear to ear, her dress dazzled in tiny, individually placed diamonds, whilst we stand here in 10 year old rags...... She rummages around for a second or two, then delicately plucks one ticket from the huge bowl with hundreds of innocent girls names inside, one of whom will probably be dead in a week. My heart plummets as she reads out that future dead girl's name. "Tris Prior." The horrific time of year has once again arrived for 16 year old Tris - The Hunger Games. As hearts are broken, truths are told and relationships are played with, will Tris ever have enough time to say goodbye to her loved ones? Tris and Tobias have been going out for a year now, seeing as they are in their Senior year there will be some complications. They try to manage picking colleges, majors, friendships, and responsibilities all while keeping a healthy relationship. Of course they argue, and have their cliche moments. But, what if that all stops due to a new girl coming to their school who has an open eye for Tobias? Tris does everything in her will to keep Tobias interested in her; from make-over's to date nights. But, will one fatal move change everything she worked for?
