This short story/letter was inspired by Jenny Han's written novel, To All the Boys I've Loved Before. These are personal letters that contain words that I don't and will probably never have the courage to say to the people I want to relay them to, in real life. I've decided to pen down my genuine emotions, since I don't have the guts to spill them to the people I want, face to face. To get it out and forget it all. You could think of this as a journal I guess. I am sorry if this is cringe worthy in any way. Thank you for reading :)

For when we are gone, our hearts stay forever. Sometimes life gets a little painful and your heart clenches and your tears soak your skin down to your toes. Someone else in the world knows how that feels. And here is what they say. If you would like, the last chapter is my own heart on paper. Disclaimer: Me? Own the quotes? I wish.

When someone experiences something traumatizing, the first thing they impulsively think of is, why me? But what's considered as traumatizing? Getting a bad grade on a test? A family member dying? Or maybe something more sinister, more painful. Such as domestic violence, or perhaps rape. Those are far worse than getting a bad grade on a test. I would know. Because I experience something considered as traumatizing everyday. But to me it's just normal. What can I say? I was raised that way. I know that it's wrong, but it's not like I can do anything to prevent it. Sure, it hurts. But after a while you get used to the pain and it doesn't hurt as much. Being abused in both of my lives helped me in a way. I understand how cruel the world is and how selfish people are, stepping on others to gain what they desire. You could say I have trust issues, but I believe that it's common sense. Everyone has their desires, some darker than others. You wouldn't understand what I'm talking about until you've experienced what I have. Always being the one at the bottom. Always the one being stepped on by others. Never getting the chance to fulfill my desires. And it's corrupted me. I don't trust. I don't care. I don't love. I don't feel. I don't speak.

Ever since he was a kid he's been different. More mature, more secluded, more quiet. But then again, he didn't grow up like 'normal' children. That might be because of the fact that he remembers his past lives, and that they all ended in abuse and loneliness. Feeling pain so unimaginable, anyone would cry just by hearing about it. Never smiling, never showing any emotion, never caring. It was bound to attract some attention from outsiders. So that's why his parents tried to make him socialize and go outside. But even then he would always find a way to sneak back inside and read his books. During these years of locking himself in his room, Elliot turned to the library for knowledge of this new world, and soon excelled in all subjects. And when his parents would force him to go out and play with the other kids like his brother, all he would do was sit in the shadows and observe his surroundings. Being extremely smart and attractive for his age, of course made the other kids want to play with him, but his unresponsive behavior when they would ask if he wanted to play only made them pout then walk away. And soon enough, Elliot was alone again. But it's not like he minded, right? I do not own any of the pictures I use in my story, all rights belong to the owner.
