He was full of shining ideas for how to make humans better, and you were a willing test subject, ready to become more than you'd ever hoped to be. Only that never happened. The first expirament went completely wrong and ended in disaster. Years later you've been living your life in hiding and on the run, a broken shell of what you used to be, with a body that won't let you bite the bullet. You are a weapon, and people know it. Various organizations are after you, and in an attempt to finally get them off your tail you run to blackhat inc. where you know no one would dare follow. It's there that you find to your surprise, Dr. Flug, who, ridden with the guilt of having abandoned you after the failed expirament, offers to let you stay and help him in his lab.
