This story takes place at the very beginning of the first How to Train Your Dragon movie, so it's the younger version of Hiccup, the main character being around his same age at the time. Being kept inside whenever there's a dragon attack, she wants to experience some sort of interaction with dragons, skeptical of viking's typical view on them. Thanks to Hiccup, she manages to get this opportunity, causing her first experience to be a rather terrifying and life threatening one, but the two of them then discovering an entirely different side to dragons together.

Hiccup and the others have finally found an island to call their own; Dragon's Edge. However, Night Terrors aren't the only dragons indigenous to this land. A gentle song rings through the air every night, belonging to an unknown species. And when Toughnut brings home a new pet, questions arise.
