WATTY 2019 WINNER Hale, a state of the art android, can do nearly anything a human can. He cooks meals, cleans and organizes the house, repairs broken appliances, and runs errands. He can even provide for the more carnal needs of his owner. None of these tasks should present any challenge for Hale, and they don't-until he meets his next door neighbour, Rayner. Rayner seems like an unassuming gardener, but he asks Hale a lot of questions. Does Hale wish he could smell or taste food? What would he look like if his appearance hadn't been chosen for him? From the moment they meet, Hale runs into errors in otherwise simple tasks. He experiences bizarre sensations that none of his diagnostic tools can explain, and struggles to appease the people in his owner's social circle. As the errors in his programming begin to wear on his owner's patience, Hale faces the most difficult decision yet. If he can't evolve to meet her needs, he'll be returned and recycled into parts for future androids. If he does evolve, is he still just an android? Or something more? In all this, Rayner is the only man who can help him, and Rayner only has one question left for Hale. What does he want? Hale wasn't designed to want anything, but perhaps he can find the answer in the man with all the questions. [A psychological thriller] When you can't even pay for a bottle of water, you might want a friend like Casper. This may be hard considering he's the God-given prophet of Seabrook high; the type of kid who offers existential philosophies on a Monday and spews poetry the next. Friends are a select few for Casper, and Holden doesn't have the right kind of luck for a golden ticket. But he isn't worried. After all, to win the heart of a prophet, all you need is intelligence. And intelligence is all he's got. Cover credit: Photo by Martin Stranka. Design by toska_. Trailer Credit: Clips from Xavier Dolan films. Made by me.

Renee Griffin is gorgeous, loveable, undeniably popular, and has an uncanny ability of getting everything she wants. She is a cunning seductress, a loving daughter, a prima donna, and a cold-blooded murderer. This is not a story for the faint hearted. This is the story of a 21st Century psychopath. "'You've killed,' he breathed. His eyes had grown big, so big that they barely fit his face anymore. He didn't resemble Nathan at all. He was pathetic, and cowardly, and weak. 'I have.' Silence and darkness threatened to crush us both, the sound of his uneven breathing piercing through my eardrums. I didn't bother hiding anything in my demeanour - it was a relief to let the darkness out, to let it slip out of every pore and every cell. He was going to die. His next words were quiet, so quiet, that it could have been drowned out with the faint sound of cheers coming from the stadium. 'You're a monster.'"
