She couldn't really remember much of the stories anyway, being so young when their father took them out of La Push to live somewhere else, after the death of their mother had taken a toll on him. But returning once more, ten years later, with Reed being almost twenty and more able to look after his sixteen-year-old sister, he falls back into the comfort of the legends and myths of the tribe. Maybe too comfortably. While Callas sees it as an opportunity to finally be back to her roots, back to her loving grandparents and ageing dog, and to finally feel like she belongs. Callas wasn't the type of person to mind moving, having done it for over half of her life. So, transferring to La Push High School wasn't weighing heavily on her mind.
