The trees rustled, disturbing my hair and ruffling the pages of the book I was immersed in. As I closed the book, sighing at the author who was ending yet another chapter in a cliffhanger, I looked at the time and yelled. I was late for my class. I calculated if I was too late to make an effort to actually go to it. Deciding against it, I leaned against a tree, taking the book out again. Let's find out what the author has in store for me. My phone beeped. I looked at from the corner of my eye.
Tejas
Sure. Call me tonight.
I dropped the book, not caring in the least if the protagonist died and picked up my phone, heart thudding so much I feared it would leap out of my chest.
