Sayuri is a human in a centaur's world. Her over-protective father is the leader of their herd and doesn't approve of any of his daughter's ideas. He especially isn't too fond of Rio, a young centaur who has his eye of Sayuri and wants her to be his mate. When Sayuri makes a decision to leave her home behind, she finds out that there is much more that she'd ever realised that her father was shielding her from. Her heart stopped beating. The green line on the monitor went flat. A long, steady beep filled the room. Her skin pale, her lips dry, her lungs empty. Two men stood by her holding small gray devices. Seconds ticked by, and the men watched. They staired at her lifeless, swollen body. One of the men checked the clock. The girl had been dead for thirty seconds.

For a werebear the most important thing in life is their mate. However as werebears dwindled in numbers they struggled to find their mates. It's very rare for a werebear to find their mates these days and when they do, they won't let go.
