Zahra Batina has a unique understanding of destiny. To her, destiny is nothing but the heart's deepest yearning. If the heart desires something, shouldn't it be granted? And if one is denied what they long for, why would that longing exist at all? Her desires are fierce and convincing. Only to discover that what she believed to be true was, in fact, an illusion. Tariq has always been boring. Not because nothing interests him. And definitely not because he is shy. Having lived a very reserved life, he convinced himself for actions to be enough. However this time, he's proven wrong.

They say belief is suicide. They're not wrong. Where I come from, faith gets you a bullet in the head, a knock at the door that never ends well, or a name etched on a list you'll never live to see. Still, I believe. So does Basil, my only constant in a world stripped of everything soft. We've been hunted for years, slept under stone, eaten from dirt, prayed in secret, and watched good people vanish for whispering the wrong words. We've made it all these years with nothing but our prayers and each other. But then came the rumor about a sanctuary. A lie, probably. A trap, almost definitely. Basil wanted to chase it anyway, because we owed it to ourselves, he said, and to the others who share our struggle. I went with him only because I couldn't bear to watch him go alone. I should've stopped him... But now it's too late. (Includes books one and two, in the Scarred Duology.)

Some stories don't start with sparks. They begin in silence. In the neon-colored chaos of high school, where social hierarchies rule and reputation is everything, one girl watches from the sidelines-unnoticed, unremarkable, and quietly unraveling under the weight of expectations. It's senior year, the supposed climax of teenage life, but for her, it feels more like a final test of identity. Willow keeps her head down. She notices everything but says little, slipping between the noise of high school with a quiet grace no one seems to catch. Except Dakota. He's the school's star lacrosse player-confident on the field, people know his name, but not the boy behind the number. Watching Dakota Alexander St. James-her brother's best friend and the golden boy of their school-score the winning goal, something shifts. A look. A pause. She's struck not by romance, but by something deeper: envy, admiration, and the realization that she's been playing a role in everyone else's story but her own. As the story unfolds, their friendship grows tentative at first, built not on dramatic moments but on shared silences, thoughtful glances, and the quiet understanding that they see each other in a way no one else does. Through late-night games, carnival lights, and beach bonfires, both Willow and Dakota begin to open up. In a world full of noise, this is the story of two people learning how to be seen. How to trust what's unspoken. And how sometimes, the strongest kind of love is the kind that takes its time. At its heart, this is a story about being known. About how connection doesn't have to be loud to be real. And how sometimes, love begins not with fireworks, but with the soft, steady flicker of a flame. More than eight years before the novel opens, Anne Elliot, then a lovely, thoughtful, warm-hearted 19 year old, accepted a proposal of marriage from the handsome young naval officer Frederick Wentworth. He was clever, confident, and ambitious, but poor and with no particular family connections to recommend him. Sir Walter, Anne's fatuous, snobbish father and her equally self-involved older sister Elizabeth were dissatisfied with her choice, maintaining that he was no match for an Elliot of Kellynch Hall, the family estate. Her older friend and mentor, Lady Russell, acting in place of Anne's late mother, persuaded her to break the engagement. Now 27 and still unmarried, Anne re-encounters her former love when his sister and brother-in-law, the Crofts, take out a lease on Kellynch. Wentworth is now a captain and wealthy from maritime victories in the Napoleonic wars. However, he has not forgiven Anne for rejecting him. While publicly declaring that he is ready to marry any suitable young woman who catches his fancy, he privately resolves that he is ready to become attached to any appealing young woman except for Anne Elliot.
