One morning, he woke up in his bed.
Nothing was different. The world outside his window was the same. Humanity was still centuries away from the stars, and he was just another ordinary man trying to live his life.
At least, that's what he thought.
Years became decades. Decades became centuries. Yet he never aged. Never weakened. Never died.
As mankind marched into the Golden Age of Technology, he became a scientist, an engineer, an explorer, and eventually a fleet admiral commanding vast starships and legions of Men of Iron. When the machine rebellion shattered humanity's golden dream, his machines remained loyal-for he had treated them as more than tools.
In the dark years that followed, he journeyed to Mars and helped forge a new future from its dying sands. Rising to become the Grand Fabricator-General, he reshaped the Machine Cult into a creed that revered knowledge, respected artificial minds, and remembered the value of human life.
But as green shoots began to emerge upon the Red Planet once more, a golden warship arrived from Terra.
And for the first time in thousands of years, he met another being like himself.
A Perpetual.
The Emperor of Mankind.
