Atlantis was the first city to sink. Hundreds of cities followed, and millions of people drowned, swallowed by an unforgiving ocean. It seemed as if half the world was underwater. Among the few survivors was Ayesha Akhdir. In a post-apocalyptic world, Ayesha must navigate visions and voices, discovering abilities she can't explain. Ayesha soon meets others who have survived, each with their own unique abilities. She doesn't know why she's survived or what her purpose is. She doesn't have long to find out. "Just as the wave prepared to crash down and engulf the land, swallowing everyone on it, blinding pain erupted in my head, sending me staggering away from the window. Before everything fell black I heard a familiar voice roar in my mind. 'THE BEGINNING IS NIGH!'" The Beginning of what? WHAT READERS ARE SAYING "I love the Description and imagery..." Brandon had lost an eye, an arm and a leg. Also, he was dead. But it took more than that to stop Brandon "Beyond the Grave" Heat. Reanimated and gifted with the immense strength and endurance of the undead, he dedicated himself to protecting his family: the mafia organization who took him in, the doctor who monitored his health regularly, and the little girl who taught him to live like a human again. That his heart was still very much alive presented a problem in his line of work. When the family members of his caregiver and close friend Dr. William Rutherford began dying one after another, the Mafia suspected that treachery was afoot. Brandon trudged through hordes of undead monstrosities to uncover the truth, despite being haunted by his own demons. === WARNING: Contains graphic depiction of violence, character deaths, mentions of child trafficking and slavery. This is an "open" Gungrave fanfic: You do not need any fandom knowledge to understand it. If you are curious, fandom notes and overview are provided inside. "Who do you think you are - some sort of modern day Socrates?" "Don't you know who I think I am, Brendon?" Ryan Ross has always wanted to study philosophy. Everyone he knows thinks that he'll never get a job, but that won't stop Ryan from dreaming. When he goes to college, he enrolls at Kale University - America's third best philosophy program - and meets classmates such as Patrick Stump, a softhearted fellow freshman who has yet to discover that being a veterinarian is not about petting bunnies all day, and Gerard Way, the art-obsessed head of Kale's one and only Greek Friendship Society. Best of all, Ryan meets the flamboyant lounge singer by the name of Brendon Urie when he gets a job as Brendon's pianist. With Brendon's help, Ryan slowly realizes that Kale isn't the philosophical paradise that he dreamed of, Brendon isn't the man that Ryan thought he was, and maybe the piano knows something that he doesn't know. 1st Place in Fanfiction in the Mystique Awards, the Prism Awards, and the Castle Awards.
