Dedicated to anyone struggling with suicide. If you have any thoughts of suicide or self-harm please visit this website. https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/ Remember you are needed, wanted, and loved. Suicide is never the answer. ••• Dark. Light. Fear. Pain. Blood rushes through my head, my eyes widen, my hair whips in the wind, the soft glow of the incoming headlights glimmer off of the tears streaming down my face. I feel my hands make their way into the back of me, pushing their as if I were flying, the tenseness, yet the beauty and sublimity of the stars in the sky giving me one single thought in my head. As the bright lights and the screams of other people bleed into my mind, all I can feel is one thing. I am going to die. I, am going to be free. ••• Perry Woods, is broken. Even looking into the mirror is a struggle for her. Looking into the face that can't seem to accept her flaws only pushes her deeper into her depth of depression. Sure, there wasn't any reason for her to be sad, at least, that's what anyone has said about her condition, anyone she has confessed to. She has the 'perfect' life, a perfect body, boyfriend, school, family, and so much more. Perry had to be happy. Even though none of it was real. She had to smile even though she felt like crying. She had to paint her life into a model life that everyone pined for. She had to swallow the pain, plaster on the horrible smile that nobody seemed to understand. She had to brave her way everyday, silently screaming for someone to save her, save her from her mind and her thoughts. So when the chance of a lifetime where Perry can risk everything and be free, will she take this calling, even though it may change her and everyone else forever? Contains self-harm, triggering thoughts of suicide. Viewer discretion 14+

Inspired by J.J. Ballard's Empire of the Sun, Katie Reid brings a harrowing and heartbreaking tale of a young girl tangled in war, where, through hardships, trials, and tests of endurance, she will live through it all, keeping her soul ablaze, channeling her pain into strength, and finally finding, her redemption. Painfully detailed, you will find yourself forever changed after reading her story of survival and sadness, and of hope in World War Two. "I see this spark in you, Belle... This spark, of hope. And a will, to live."
