Tras su divorcio, Lance se muda a un edificio nuevo donde comienza a rehacer su vida. Allí conoce a muchos vecinos increíbles que le ayudan a afrontar esta dura etapa de su vida, entre ellos el que vive en la puerta de enfrente. El interés fue mutuo desde el principio y conforme pasa el tiempo, se enreda más en estos hilos del amor de los que preferiría mantenerse alejado. Lidiar con una ruptura amorosa sumado al estrés de apenas tener tiempo entre el trabajo y sus hijos dificulta mucho meterse en una zona tan pantanosa como lo son las relaciones románticas, sin añadir las propias complicaciones que pueda experimentar la otra persona. Probablemente lo mejor sea mantener su amistad tal y como está, así ambos se ahorrarán dolores de cabeza. Lástima que por mucho que se diga eso a sí mismo, haya una parte de él que no esté de acuerdo con esa afirmación.
