Kisame watched his partner move one step out in the clearing, then another, and another after that, until he was standing under the pouring rain, eyes closed to the grey sky, as if the rain could wash away his sins.
The intense smell of wet soil saturated the air, invisible crows called each other from the top of the woods. Then, in a second, the woman of Amekagure was there, because with the rain, you couldn't hear her coming. And she always came with the rain.
Her, her weird healing that tasted better than drugs, and the vague smile that was marred by nothing.
Kakashi hummed, then dipped his hashi into the ramen.
"It's been raining since you arrived here. Shame you hadn't had the chance to properly enjoy Konoha yet."
She shook her head, stirring her meal and watching the naruto spin in the broth.
"I don't mind the rain. It often rains where I come from, so it feels familiar. Safe even."
"Still," Kakashi shrugged "One should not forget the sun."
