A short story written for the Red Feather Award Summer 2019 Writing Contest. Thana, living on war-torn Earth, is pulled from her life and learns shocking secrets about herself and her family. Old questions are answered and new questions are asked when she meets the Universe and time is ticking for her to make an impossible decision.

One million dollars. That’s the prize for this year’s annual prank war at Kainler High. When sixteen year old rebel Ariane Laker gets kicked out of her fifth school, she’s sent to a supposedly strict boarding school. Just as she arrives, the prank war starts – A game of caution, trust, and betrayal. Now all she needs to figure out is who to trust and who to stay away from. But that’s not always easy.

Heroes. Ever since they showed up, people have gone soft. They're adored, worshipped. Devotion is showered upon them like rain. It's about time someone knocks them off that pedestal they stand on, someone to crush their pillars of faith. Someone like me. A villain. It's perfect.
