A Faulknerian icon stripped from his era and sequestered in a contemporary mental health ward, with a prophet as a roommate. A diverse group of kids learning life's brutal lessons while growing up in the New South. A student at an elite college forced to combat the ghosts in his mind while trying his best to pretend to enjoy his girlfriend's sorority formal. These three narratives occur in parallel, each with its own timeline, structure, voice, and cast of characters. How these stories are related is ultimately up for the reader to decide.
Inspired by my readings of Murakami, Faulkner, Joyce, and Morrison, I have taken my own life experiences and sought to use them as a foundation and inspiration for a work of literary fiction. I started this book 5 years ago and finished the first 320 page draft 3 years ago. Now I am completely rewriting it. So far, I have finished rewriting the first ~70 pages with the help of an editor. As I complete more, I will continue to upload them.
My goal is to eventually get this work traditionally published and I appreciate any and all feedback, so long as it is constructive. Thank you.
